Inside Out

A rich collection of paintings, textiles and sculptures.
These paintings above represent the topical subject of
Migrants and Refugees. The sculpture Connection
speaks of the rescuing nature of a personal encounter.
Both show the power of creation and humanities’
struggle. Thought provoking, challenging and uplifting.
See stone carvers at work and talk about their practice.
Celebration View Thursday 20 April, 6-9pm with talk by
artists at 7.30pm. Group Representative: Royse Murphy.

Collaborative Art Piece (Interfaith)

10am-4pm, University Chapel, Francis Close Hall,
University of Gloucestershire
An art project that brought Christian and Muslim
women together with other faiths and none to produce
a unified piece of art. Reflecting on prayer and living
a life of faith, each person produced an individual craft
that is brought together over a series of workshops
and displayed as a unit on the Tree of Faith.

Collaborative Art Piece

(6th Cheltenham Boys’ Brigade)
Term time Fridays, 6.30pm, Salem Church
Games, sports, activities, Bible based learning, camps,
competitions, tuck shop and Creative Explosion –
Art Piece made by the Boys on show during Salem
Church events. Boys aged 5 to 18 years, of all faiths

Icon course 2017

Icon Painting Course with Ian Knowles (Bethlehem Icon School)
Monday 24–Friday 28 April, 10am-4pm, St Matthew’s
Learn to paint an icon. Course covers egg tempera, preparing boards, painting and much more. Beginners
welcome. With an emphasis on prayer, reflection and hard work, the course is challenging but very rewarding.

Learn Silversmithing
Saturday 22 April, 12pm – 4.30pm, St Luke’s
At the end of this beginners workshop, you will leave
with your very own silver creation: a simple pendant
and matching earrings. Both made from sterling
silver wire.

An exhibition of icons hosted by St Luke’s Icon Centre,
Rowington and other icon painters. Visitors are warmly
welcome to talk with us and watch us at work.

Inside-Out at Gloucester Cathedral
Saturday 29 April-Monday 1 May, 10am-4pm,
We are a group of six artists of diverse Christian
backgrounds from the Gloucester region, forming a
collaborative of full-time and part-time artists working
with paint, stone and textiles. We formed ‘Inside-Out’
in 2015 to exhibit and demonstrate our art in the
public domain and encourage dialogue about spiritual
issues. We accept commissions, come along and meet
the artists and see their work.

Felt-making Workshop
Wings and Roots

Saturday 29 April, 2-4pm, Highbury Church Room
Wool fibres have unique properties which have been
used for centuries as felt, in clothing and for many
other purposes. Using warm water, pressure and
a little friction the fibres can be bonded together
to make a fabric. It is easy and fun to make with
often surprising and beautiful results.

Oil painting workshop

2 Oil Painting Workshops
Saturday 6 May, 11am-1pm and 3-5pm,
The Lodge Studio, Woodmancote
In two workshops, we will look at portrait (morning)
and landscape (afternoon, weather permitting). If the
weather is bad we will do still life in the afternoon!
The object is to explain the basics of using oils and to
give an enjoyable experience which will encourage you
to try painting on your own.
Materials will be provided, numbers limited.

Drama workshop Max Quick

Drama Workshop
The Music Room, Christ Church Parish Centre
Wednesday 3 May, 7.30pm
Stories through drama in a supportive atmosphere.
Acting experience is not essential. Max, a retired school
head teacher, runs popular workshops for Cheltenham
U3A and drama workshops for children and young
people. Currently with Leckhampton Players, he has
enjoyed acting and singing most of his life. Great fun for
anyone and helpful tips for ‘Open the Book’ storytellers.
