1st prize Sperman meets Jesus Philip Middleton

  • Winner of the Art Competition for the front cover: ‘Superman meets Jesus” by Philip Middleton.  ‘I love the idea that Superman has shed his suit to humble himself before Jesus. The wonderful element of fun and simplicity of design are so appealing; I think this will make many people smile with great pleasure, both young and old. And it has a universal appeal.  Very suitable for the brochure cover.’

Second Prize Shiloha Levy

  • Second Prize: Soli Deo Gloria, Shiloha Levi.  ‘For me as a Patron of the National Star College it has a lot of resonances. I love the fact that the subject is in a wheelchair and also holding a photograph of what looks like van Gogh’s painting of a church. The landscape, the bells, all the wonderful details and the dedicated amount of work tick all the boxes and is very topical as David Hockney has just unveiled his window in Westminster Abbey. It is so strong – the wheels on the chair and the position of the figure and the composition  is so obviously not done from a photograph.’

Third Prize Robert Goldsmith

  • Third Prize: Robert Goldsmith.  ‘The children singing:  It is moving, delicate and sensitive.’
